Our cycle routes in North Devon provide back road bike trips and include the Tarka Trail cycle way. This one third A4 (DL) 48 page full colour booklet give cyclists a wide choice of circular cycle rides. The Tarka Trail is a 32 mile off-road cycle and walk way using the old railway tracks in North Devon. All the routes, except the Exmoor Challenge, interlink, enabling a wide choice of mileages and difficulties. Even within one route there are options for shortcuts. So you can mix and match the rides to suit your ability. The rides are designed by a cyclist for cyclists.
There is no map reading involved as the routes are followed through graphics of junctions and mileages between them. This means you can follow the route without having to stop to read the directions. Further information is given on where to park, where to hire bikes and the local tourism office. A simple map is included to give you a quick idea of the ride, shortcuts and where the route interlinks with the neighbouring routes. A profile of the terrain is also included and there is space to take notes along the way. Just clip into a handlebar clip or handlebar bag map holder.
The Exmoor Challenge is a circular mountain bike route on Exmoor. It follows small country lanes and bridleways, most of it being off-road. You will need to have the ability to ride over rough terrain. The route is 12.6 miles long, which might not sound much, but because of the terrain it is quite a good challenge taking in some great scenery, gaining and losing some 660 metres.
